Class Descriptions

If you are a student of dance with an aspiration for a career in the dance world and looking to develop your contemporary dance technique for auditions, performance or exams then theschool has a class for you. Our contemporary dance classes combine elements from Martha Graham, Ballet, Release, Physical Dance Theatre, Cunningham, Limon and Jazz technique.

Ages 11 – 16

Cost £4.50 per class or £40.00 for a 10 class card.

Class Times:

11:00 – 11.45: Beginners Level – Dance Theatre Studio.

For the beginner dancer or those that have had a little experience. This class offers the young budding dancer aged 11- 16 years to experience high-quality contemporary dance training as well as developing their performance and creative skills. The focus of the class is to build confidence in the student to explore their own body within the contemporary technique whilst safely learning to release with and rise up against gravity.

Ages 13 – 19

Cost £5.00 per class or £45 for 10 class card. 

Class Times:

1.30 – 2.30: Intermediate Level – Dance Theatre Studio.

This class is for those that have had at least two years dance training. Students are also given the opportunity to perform with the – youth group.

Developed with a focus on improving the dance technical training of the young student; a contemporary movement style, that focuses on alignment, strength and transitional phrasing through skeletal exploration. Classes can be described as highly physical, technical and fun. The class focuses on the body as a whole in motion, with emphasis on building a strong technique through focused skeletal alignment.

The objective of the class is to prepare and train the young dancer to move confidently through space without fear of falling to and rising up from the floor space with an emphasis on a strong dynamic technique with little effort. theschool believes that a young dancer will improve technically and grow artistically when given the freedom to express their unique creative individuality through movement.
